I really want to see Crazy Heart. I am in love with Jeff Bridges.

I heard a comic in a podcast refer to Avatar as "a cartoon version of Dances With Wolves." Cracks me up.

Buf - I am not sure if a cartoon has ever been nominated. My kids saw up, from what they tell me, I think it would be nominated because of the story.

Beauty and the Beast was nominated.

There are a couple of reasons they've expanded the nominations to 10 this year.
1. So the nominees can say they were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar and get more folks to the box office (make more $)
2. Nominate films in categories that wouldn't otherwise stand a chance of getting the nomination (like "Up" - which IS a great story BTW and worthy of the nod IMHO)

Still, it's nice to see some films that were big box office hits (i.e., the films the average people liked) and not just "critically acclaimed" films being nominated.)

I saw it and was so depressed after the first 15 minutes, I couldn't finish it. It was too sad for me. But what I saw was really cute and sweet.
